Confirming the definition of done
We clarified component and design specifications in the form of user stories to ensure the user need, acceptance criteria and ‘definitions of done’ were clearly understood by our development and testing teams. Components were grouped by complexity and mapped to sprint-ready tasks, allowing development teams to start with confidence and clarity.
We also ensured accessibility and compliance recommendations from a previous review were actioned to support a WCAG 2.2 AA compliant website in GovCMS.
Creating an efficient delivery process
To support a smooth transition from initial component and page development into content development and user acceptance testing we established a clear delivery process. Formalised through Jira, an agile project management software tool we defined delivery stages, roles, workflows, and handover points. This helped accelerate momentum whilst ensuring quality, consistency and effective governance over how the site was being built to support scalability.
A scalable, accessible website
We drove a fast delivery and testing pace balanced with quality assurance checkpoints and ongoing collaboration with the APSJobs team. This gave them confidence that the re-platformed site delivered a fit for purpose, scalable solution that their business stakeholders could continue to evolve.
The APSJobs Career Pathways site is now positioned to support growing recuitment initiatives across Government. Our work laid the foundation for a seamless, user-first experience that reflects the modern, inclusive, and diverse nature of the Australian Public Service.
